Copper Wire Thefts in Santee

San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department’s Santee station are asking for assistance from the public to help identify and locate unknown suspects wanted in connection with a series of electrical copper wiring thefts. Detectives said that, between December 2013 and the end of January 2014, unknown suspects have stolen about 4,000 feet of copper wiring from street lights, sidewalk lighting, and from irrigation and water control systems throughout the city of Santee to include the Mission Creek and River Park areas.

In most of the cases the thieves have broken the cement covers to gain access to the copper wiring. The damage and replacement costs to the City of Santee are over $60,000.
