Fugitives of the Week: Special Double Header-Espinoza and Dominguez

On May 24, 2013, at approx 9:45 p.m., San Diego Police officers responded to a report of gunshots in the 1800 block of Smythe Avenue in San Diego.  Officers arrived at a residence on Smythe Avenue and contacted the adult female victim.  The victim was shot in her head, neck, and chest.  The victim was with her 4-year-old daughter at the time of the shooting; her daughter was not injured in the incident.  The suspect, who had fled the scene prior to the officers’ arrival, was identified as the victim’s ex-boyfriend Ramiro Espinoza. The victim was transported to the hospital by paramedics with life-threatening injuries and underwent emergency surgery. The victim is now listed in serious but stable condition and is expected to survive.    

Espinoza is wanted for attempt homicide and remains at large. A picture of Espinoza is attached to page two of this release.

On February 23, 2013, at approx 7:50 p.m., DOMINGUEZ strangled his estranged wife into unconsciousness at her residence located in the 2500 block of J Street in San Diego. When she came to she called police and reported the crime. DOMINGUEZ fled the scene prior to police arriving. Several family members came to comfort and protect the victim in case the suspect returned. Around midnight DOMINGUEZ returned to the scene, but was chased off by the family. A male friend volunteered to stay with the victim in case DOMINGUEZ returned.

On February 24, 2013, at approx 6:45 a.m., the victim heard a knock at her door. She looked out the window and saw DOMINGUEZ standing on the porch. The victim woke her friend and he got up and answered the door. When the friend opened the door, Dominguez shot the friend multiple times in the chest. DOMINGUEZ immediately fled the scene and was last seen getting into the passenger side of a Red Mitsubishi sedan, similar to an Eclipse. The friend survived his wounds and continues to recover.

Dominguez is wanted for attempt homicide and remains at large.
