San Diego County Crime Stoppers and the San Diego Police Department Homicide Unit continue to look for leads on the unsolved murder of Tammy Jo Charland.
Detectives said on June 15, 2009, at approximately 7:49 a.m., a citizen noticed a body, later identified as 38-year-old Tammy Jo Charland, wrapped in a blanket in the north alley of 3000 Main Street. The citizen attempted to rouse Ms. Charland, but was unsuccessful. Officers and firefighters responded to the above location and pronounced Ms. Charland dead at the scene.
Examination of the crime scene, as well as information developed early in the investigation, prompted investigators to categorize Ms. Charland’s death as a murder. The motivation for the attack and information related to the suspect(s) remains unknown. Tammy was homeless and was known to frequent the area where her body was discovered.
