Unsolved Murder of Miguel Castro

UP TO $10,000 REWARD

San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the Escondido Police Department’s Crimes of Violence Unit continue to ask for the public’s help in identifying and locating the suspects responsible for the murder of 17-year-old Miguel Castro which occurred nearly 23 years ago.

On January 31, 2000, at about 10:20 p.m., Miguel Castro was shot and killed while standing with a small group of teens in front of an apartment complex located at 451 E. Mission Avenue, in Escondido. Witnesses reported seeing a white 4-door Honda or Toyota at the corner of Hickory Avenue and Mission Avenue with three to four suspects inside the vehicle. Gun shots fired from the occupant(s) struck Miguel and one other male.

Crime Stoppers along with the City of Escondido and the family of Miguel Castro are offering a combined $10,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest in this case.
