Who Killed Lamontee Stevenson?

San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the San Diego Police Department’s Homicide Unit are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating the suspect responsible for the murder of United States Sailor Lamontee Stevenson. 

On August 17, 2019, at 12:50 a.m., the San Diego Police Department’s Communication Center received a call of a shooting at a residence located in the 2700 block of Marcy Avenue, in San Diego. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a male (later identified as 19-year-old Lamontee Stevenson) suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Stevenson was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. 

San Diego Police Homicide Detectives were called to the location and began investigating the incident. Detectives learned Stevenson was attending a party at the location when Stevenson’s friend got into an argument with an unknown Black male. Stevenson’s friend and the unknown male began to physically fight. Stevenson attempted to break up the fight between the two males. The unknown male (suspect) pointed a handgun at Stevenson and shot him multiple times. The suspect immediately fled the scene. 

Detectives are asking anyone who attended this party or anyone who may have information about this case to contact them. 

Suspect’s Description: 

The suspect is described as a Black male with medium length hair. 

San Diego County Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for any information that leads to an arrest in this case. Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) is offering an additional $1,000 reward with a total reward of $2,000 for this case.
