San Diego County Crime Stoppers along with investigators from the El Cajon Police Department’s Cold Case Unit continue to look for leads to help locate 19-year-old James Ronald Peters (Jamie).

Jamie Peters was last seen by his mother on September 2, 1988. Jamie had moved in with a roommate in El Cajon. His roommate denied any knowledge of Jamie’s whereabouts and said he left the apartment and didn’t say where he was going.

Three months later Jamie’s 1970 green Volkswagen bug was found abandoned on Mussey Grade Road in Ramona. His car had been stripped and vandalized. Jamie has not made contact with anyone and/or his remains have never been discovered.

Missing Person

Up to $10,000 Reward Offered 

San Diego County Crime Stoppers along with investigators from the El Cajon Police Department’s Crimes of Violence Unit continue to look for leads to help locate Elijah Bear Diaz. 

Elijah Bear Diaz was last seen on August 29, 2015 when he was dropped off, at approximately 10:00 pm by his mother, at his residence on Joey Lane in El Cajon. She reported him missing the following day. During the investigation, El Cajon Police detectives discovered that Elijah’s cell phone had been turned off on August 30, 2015. His 50” television was missing from his bedroom along with bed sheets and the contents of a safe. 

Elijah Bear Diaz is a Native American male and a member of the Barona Indian Tribe. He is diabetic and, at the time he was reported missing, was using crutches to move around due to a slow healing injury on his left foot. He has had no contact with his family or friends and has not used social media since he was reported missing. There has been no activity on Elijah’s bank account and he has not picked up his issued checks from the Barona Tribe. To this date, police do not know if Elijah Bear Diaz is voluntarily missing or if he has been a victim of foul play.

• Elijah’s family is offering a $9,000 reward in addition to Crime Stoppers’ $1,000 reward to anyone with information that leads to Elijah’s whereabouts.

Help Identify Baby Doe

Up to $1000 Reward

San Diego County Crime Stoppers, along with investigators from the San Diego Police Department’s Homicide Unit, are asking for the public’s help in finding out what happened to Baby Doe. 

On May 4, 2004 two hikers found skeletal remains on a hiking trail in Rancho Bernardo. Forensic testing indicates the remains are that of a 2 to 4-year-old boy probably born sometime between 1999 and 2001. Baby Doe’s features are consistent with being mostly Caucasian and is believed to have had light to medium brown hair. 

Additionally, isotopic testing indicates it is likely that Baby Doe was born on the mainland United States. During a portion of her pregnancy, Baby Doe’s mother likely resided in the Southeastern region of the United States where Baby Doe may have spent his first year of life before migrating westward toward California. 

The image above of Baby Doe was developed by a forensic artist with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The clothing items featured were found with Baby Doe.

Detectives are asking for information that helps identify Baby Doe and/or his biological parents and information that also helps detectives figure out what happened to Baby Doe. Sheriff’s Homicide Detail to Hold Press Conference Reference the Disappearance of Maria Elena Guzman-Cordova; She’s Been Missing Since October 13, 2017

San Diego County Crime Stoppers along with investigators from the San Diego County Sheriff Department’s Homicide Detail are still asking for the public’s help in finding Maria Elena Guzman-Cordova. 

Maria Elena Guzman-Cordova is missing under suspicious circumstances. On October 13, 2017, at about 9:00 p.m., Maria Elena Guzman-Cordova left her residence, located at 1610 North Santa Fe Avenue #38 in the City of Vista. She was last seen on foot wearing a pink or black shirt and black yoga pants. Maria Elena did not take any personal items with her or told anyone where she was going.  Maria Elena Guzman-Cordova may suffer from depression. 

The Sheriff’s Homicide detail will hold a press conference today, September 27, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at the Headquarters building, located at 9621 Ridgehaven Court, San Diego. 

Homicide Lt. Rich Williams will be speaking at the press conference along with Sgt. Alejandro Navarro who will give Spanish interviews. Maria Elena’s family will also be in attendance.

Increased Reward Offered for Missing Person Jose Alberto Ortigoza

San Diego County Crime Stoppers and the San Diego Police Department Missing Persons Unit continue to look for leads to help locate missing person Jose Alberto Ortigoza.  The family and friends of Mr. Ortigoza have increased the reward to $5,000 for any information that may lead to his whereabouts.  

Mr. Ortigoza was last seen on January 24, 2014 at approximately 2:56 p.m. after entering the United States at the Otay Mesa Port of Entry to conduct business on behalf of his employer, Especies y Granos de Baja California. It is believed Mr. Ortigoza may have been in a 2008 or later model GMC Acadia Crossover type vehicle.  Mr. Ortigoza has not been in contact with his family or his employer.

Mrs. Ortigoza along with Lt. Kevin Mayer will be available today (Feb 11) at 1:00 p.m. for media interviews in front of the SDPD Police Headquarters (1401 Broadway).
