On July 17, 2026, at about 11:40 p.m., deputies from the Rancho San Diego Station responded to a call of a shooting at a residence located in the 10200 block of Challenger Boulevard in the City of Spring Valley. When deputies arrived at the scene, they found an adult female victim, who had a single gunshot wound to the ankle. The victim sustained non-fatal injuries and was treated at a nearby hospital.

The suspect immediately fled the scene and no description was given.
