Victim Randy Taing

San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the San Diego Police Department’s Homicide Unit are continuing to ask for the public’s help in identifying and locating the suspect(s) responsible for the murder of 58-year-old Randy Taing.

On April 5, 2019, at approximately 11:46 a.m., the San Diego Police Communications Center received a 911 call about a male who had been physically assaulted and burglarized while inside his own residence, which was located on the 4100 block of Ashford Street. When officers arrived at the residence, they discovered the male (later identified as Randy Taing) was not breathing. Officers began CPR until they were relieved by San Diego Fire-Rescue personnel. Taing was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.

Due to the nature of the incident and the injuries observed to Taing’s body, the San Diego Police Homicide Unit was called to the scene and began to investigate. Detectives discovered that Taing, who was the owner of the Rose Donuts store, was alone in his residence when one or more unknown suspects burglarized it. Detectives believe Taing was physically assaulted during the burglary and a safe was stolen during the incident.

On April 8, 2019, Randy Taing succumbed to his injuries. There is no suspect information at this time.
