$1000 REWARD

San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the San Diego Police Department’s Homicide Unit continue to ask for the public’s help in identifying and locating the suspect(s) responsible for the murder of 24-year-old Joseph William Bonno.

On November 17, 1992, just after 10:30 p.m., the San Diego Police Department received a call of a man found shot in the parking lot of 10940 Scripps Ranch Boulevard. When police officers arrived, they found the victim (later identified as Joseph William Bonno) lying on the ground and had suffered a gunshot wound to his chest. Paramedics responded, but Bonno was pronounced deceased at the scene.

San Diego Police Homicide Detectives responded to the scene and began investigating the incident. Detectives learned that Bonno, who lived in the apartment complex, was taking out the trash when he was shot. It appeared Bonno may have been checking on his vehicle when he was confronted by the suspect(s). Bonno was found by his vehicle with a trash bag nearby.

Suspect(s) Description:

Witnesses reported seeing a small, dark colored coupe style vehicle driving through the parking lot just before and after the shooting. The suspect’s vehicle is described as a late 80’s, 2-door Toyota Celica, and is shiny black in color. The vehicle may have had a modified muffler, which made the vehicle sound louder. There appeared to be two individuals inside the vehicle and the passenger was described as being an Asian male, 18 to 19-years-old, with black spiked hair.
