Suspect Wanted for Felony Hit and Run

San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the San Diego Police Department’s Traffic Division are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating the vehicle and driver that fled the scene of a traffic collision leaving a 69-year-old male pedestrian with serious injuries in the Mid-City area of San Diego. 

On August 14, 2020, at 10:17 p.m., a male pedestrian was walking in the crosswalk along the 3900 block of Orange Avenue at the intersection with 4200 Central Avenue. As the male was walking, an unknown sedan was driving eastbound along 3900 Orange Avenue and struck the pedestrian. The vehicle turned left (north) towards Central Avenue. The vehicle then backed up and drove westbound on Orange Avenue. The driver never stopped to check on the pedestrian and did not call 911. 

The victim suffered major leg injuries including a left tibia fracture. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. 

Investigators were able to locate surveillance video of the suspect’s vehicle. Investigators are asking the public to contact them if they can help identify the vehicle. 

Vehicle Description: 

The suspect’s vehicle is described as a sedan and is possibly dark colored. The vehicle may have minor or major damage to the front of the vehicle.
