Unknown Suspect Wanted for Fatal Hit and Run

 San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the San Diego Police Department’s Traffic Division are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating the driver responsible for a fatal hit and run collision that occurred in the Otay Mesa area of San Diego. 

On March 5, 2020, at about 9:12 a.m., a 21-year-old female was walking southbound in the marked crosswalk along the 8100 block of Otay Mesa Road at the intersection with Otay Mesa Center. A silver colored Nissan Altima was traveling westbound along the 8200 block of Otay Mesa Road in the # 3 lane. The vehicle did not stop at the red traffic signal and entered the intersection, striking the victim in the crosswalk. The driver of the vehicle did not stop to render aid to the victim or call 911. The vehicle fled the area and was last seen headed northbound on Heritage Road towards the City of Chula Vista. 

San Diego Police Officers along with San Diego Fire Rescue responded to the scene. The victim sustained major injuries as a result of being struck by the vehicle. Despite lifesaving efforts, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

Suspect’s Vehicle Description: 

Witnesses described the suspect’s vehicle as being a silver 4-door Nissan Altima. The vehicle will have significant front passenger side damage. 

 ***Investigators are also asking for vehicle repair shops to be on the lookout for the suspect’s vehicle as it will have significant front passenger side damage.***
