Who Killed Akili Cobbs?

San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the San Diego Police Department’s Homicide Unit are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating the suspect responsible for the murder of 34-year-old Akili Cobbs. 

On Sunday, June 27, 2021, at 11:25 p.m., the San Diego Police Communications Center received multiple calls reporting gunshots and somebody yelling for help at 4500 Ladera Street, near Sunset Cliffs. Officers from Western Division arrived at the location and found a male, later identified as Akili Cobbs, with multiple apparent gunshot wounds. Officers immediately began CPR and administering first aid until they were relieved by San Diego Fire-Rescue personnel. Unfortunately, the male was pronounced deceased at the scene. San Diego Police Homicide Detectives were called to the location and began investigating the incident. 

Suspect’s Description: 

The suspect is described as a dark-skinned Black male, early 20’s, approximately 5’6”- 5’8” tall, wearing a blue Adidas hooded sweatshirt with a white logo on the front. The suspect fled in a dark colored sedan on Ledera Street.
