La Jolla Shores Attempted Homicide Case

UP TO $1000 REWARD

San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the San Diego Police Department’s Northern Division are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating an unknown male suspect who attacked a 59-year-old female in the La Jolla Shores area of San Diego.

On June 3, 2022, between 4:50 a.m. and 5:00 a.m., a 59-year-old female was walking in Kellogg Park (La Jolla Shores) located at 8300 Camino Del Oro, In San Diego. As the victim was walking on the sand, an unknown male tackled her from behind and began to physically assault her. The suspect kept the victim on the ground by using various grappling wrestling style movements.

The suspect punched the victim on her face and head multiple times and covered her mouth and nose. The suspect then twisted the victim’s neck. The victim believed the suspect was trying to stop her breathing and break her neck. The suspect then used the victim’s walking cane and struck her head and face multiple times with it.

The victim believed the suspect was trying to kill her and she physically fought back against him. Eventually the suspect ran from the scene and was last seen headed northbound from the main lifeguard tower. The victim was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment. The victim suffered multiple injuries including lacerations, abrasions, and contusions to her upper body. The injuries are considered non-life threatening.

Suspect’s Description

The suspect is described as possibly an Asian male, 25 to 40-years-old, 5’7” tall, muscular build, with short dark hair. He was wearing a black sweatshirt, black sweatpants, and leather fingerless gloves. The victim believed the suspect had an Asian accent. The suspect will mostly likely have abrasions, lacerations, and bruises on their fingers, face, and head. The suspect may also have bite marks across their fingers.
