Unknown Suspect Wanted for Fatal Hit and Run

San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the San Diego Police Department’s Traffic Division are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating the driver responsible for a fatal hit and run collision that occurred in the Clairemont area of San Diego. 

On January 22, 2020, at about 7:26 p.m., a 45-year-old male pedestrian was crossing the 5500 block of Clairemont Mesa Boulevard. The male was walking from the center island towards the south curb line when he was struck by an unknown vehicle, which was traveling eastbound on Clariemont Mesa Boulevard. The suspect (driver) did not stop to render aid or call for help and fled the scene. The suspect’s vehicle was last seen driving eastbound on Clairemont Mesa Boulevard past the Interstate 805 overpass. 

Several witnesses stopped to render aid to the victim. Due to the severe injuries caused by the collision, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

Suspect’s Vehicle Description:

Witnesses described the suspect’s vehicle as being a black 4-door sedan. Investigators recovered vehicle parts at the scene including a front bumper. Investigators believe based on the parts recovered, the suspect’s vehicle is a 2016 - 2017 Honda Accord. 

 ***Investigators are asking if any vehicle repair shops did recent front end body work to a black colored 2016-2017 Honda Accord to contact them.***
